Toby Shapshak is a journalist from South Africa and was the ICT Journalist of the Year in 2002. He is the editor and publisher of the South African edition of Stuff magazine and he co-hosts a live weekly TV show on CNBC Africa and writes a weekly column for the Financial Mail. Formerly a senior newspaper reporter covering everything from crime to politics, he has been writing about innovation, telecoms and the internet and the (impact it has on Africa ) for more than 15 years. A graduate of Rhodes University in Grahamstown, South Africa in 1992, one of his first jobs was to shadow Nelson Mandela when he was president, and to cover the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Shapshak is a recognized thought leader and speaker in the worlds of African technology and business, speaking at events such as TED, SxSW, (Tech4Africa ) and Germany's (Zukunftskongress ) (Future Congress).
